Report: Paul Wouldn't Sign Extension With Celtics
BOSTON (CBS) - All the Chris Paul/Rajon Rondo trade talks may be put to rest.
ESPN's Chris Broussard is reporting Paul, who will be a free agent after this season, would not sign an extension with the Celtics if he is traded to Boston. That will likely scare Danny Ainge away from pulling the trigger on a Rondo trade, with the Celtics guard signed for three more years.
One of the major reasons Paul will not sign an extension, according to a source, is Boston will have both Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett coming off the books after this year and could find themselves in another rebuilding process. Paul does not want to be a part of that, and talk is he would love to test the free agent waters and possibly end up in New York alongside Amar'e Stoudamire and Carmelo Anthony.

The Celtics were trying to get a third team involved in trade talks with New Orleans, with Yahoo Sports reporting the C's and Indiana Pacers were talking about a Rondo swap. The two teams discussed preliminary framework of a deal, but Indiana would have to find a third team to give Boston enough chips to then make a deal for Paul.
Trading Rondo has been a big topic in Boston in recent days, with Broussard also reporting Ainge offered Rondo and Jeff Green to the Thunder after last season's playoffs for point guard Russell Westbrook and former Celtics center Kendrick Perkins.
