Patriots Sign Tim Bulman, Milton Native And BC Grad
BOSTON (CBS) -- Patriots training camp opens this week in Foxborough. While for some players that simply means going back to work, for Tim Bulman, it will represent a bit of a homecoming.
The 29-year-old native of Milton agreed to a deal with the Patriots on Wednesday.
The defensive lineman graduated from Boston College in 2005, where he was a tri-captain in his senior season and earned second-team All Big East honors with a 4.5-sack, 52-tackle season. Prior to his days at BC, he played at Boston College High School, where he was named the Division I Player of the Year by The Boston Globe and was the Catholic Conference MVP in 2000 after recording 36.5 sacks in his three high school seasons.
Bulman's NFL career began in Arizona, where he played sparingly in 2005. He recorded seven tackles in eight games that year before moving on to the Houston Texans. In 41 games with Houston, Bulman registered 50 total tackles and four sacks, all of which came in 2008.
It's very unlikely Bulman will enter camp vying for a starting job, but given how much Bill Belichick's defenses rotate defensive linemen, he is likely in camp to potentially provide depth for the unit.
