Report: Patriots Sign TE Scott Chandler
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots no longer have to deal with the headache that comes with covering tight end Scott Chandler.
New England has agreed to a contract with Chandler, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Chandler, who will turn 30 this July, spent his first five seasons in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills, who first signed him in December 2010.
In 65 career games, he's caught 182 passes for 2,120 yards and 17 touchdowns. He posted career highs in receptions (53) and yards 655) two seasons ago, and last year he posted a career-high three touchdowns.
The 6-foot-7, 270-pound Chandler has played nine games against the Patriots, catching 28 passes for 384 yards and four touchdowns. Those four scores account for nearly 25 percent of his career touchdowns, and this past season, he caught six passes for 105 yards in the Bills' first meeting of the year with the Patriots.
98.5 The Sports Hub's Zolak & Bertrand reacted to the signing as the news broke Friday afternoon. Chandler, paired with Rob Gronkowski, should give New England an added dynamic on offense.
But what does this mean for Tim Wright and Michael Hoomanawanui?
