Report: Patriots, Mankins Agree To 6-Year Extension
BOSTON (CBS) – On Wednesday afternoon, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft said he was hopeful the team could make guard Logan Mankins a "Patriot for life" at some point in the near future.
It did not take long, according to reports.
The Patriots and Mankins have agreed on a six-year contract extension, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Mankins was set to make over $10 million this season when the team placed their franchise tag on the All-Pro, but he has been adamant about getting a long-term deal. He held out for the first half of the season in 2010 in what turned out to be a messy situation, but it appears all has been forgiven.
Mankins, selected 32nd overall by the Patriots in 2005, is a three-time Pro Bowler and one of quarterback Tom Brady's top defenders against the opposing pass-rush. He had started every game of his professional career until holding out in 2010.
