Report: Oswalt Throws Bullpen Session For Red Sox
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Red Sox' starting rotation is on a bit of a roll of success, and the return of Daisuke Matsuzaka is just around the corner. Despite the abundance of pitching, the Sox are reportedly still interested in adding one more arm.
According to Ken Rosenthal, Roy Oswalt threw a bullpen session for the Red Sox this week in Mississippi. Rosenthal also reported that Oswalt threw for the Phillies last week, and he will throw for two more teams.
The 34-year-old righty was the subject of much offseason discussion, though he never did receive an offer he liked. He's reportedly not interested in pitching for Boston, so it's unclear if he threw his bullpen session to truly audition for the team or simply to drum up interest from other teams.
"One source said Oswalt appeared in good shape, but not surprisingly, more in spring-training mode than mid-season form," Rosenthall tweeted.
Oswalt went 9-10 with a 3.69 ERA in 23 starts for the Phillies last season, missing significant time with back injuries.
