Report: Ortiz, Red Sox Discussing One-Year Extension
BOSTON (CBS) - David Ortiz is signed through the 2014 season, but it sounds like the Red Sox would like to keep their designated hitter around a little longer.
Ortiz, currently in the Dominican Republic hosting his annual golf tournament, told reporters that he and the Red Sox are working towards adding another year onto his deal.
"My agent and them, they're talking right now to see if we can get another year," Ortiz said, according to the Herald's Scott Lauber. "Hopefully everything goes well. Right now, I am very happy with the way things went down this year."

The 38-year-old signed a two-year, $26 million deal last November, and had another stellar season in Boston in 2013.
Ortiz hit .309 with 30 home runs and 103 RBIs in the regular season, and was even better in the playoffs. Papi hit .353 with five home runs and 13 RBIs in the postseason -- going 11-for-16 at the plate in the World Series.

The 2013 campaign ended with Ortiz winning his third World Series championship and first World Series MVP with Boston.
Ortiz is a career .292 hitter with 373 home runs and 1,191 RBIs in 11 seasons with the Red Sox. A nine-time All Star, Ortiz has 431 career home runs.
