Report: Manny Ramirez Wants To Come Out Of Retirement

BOSTON (CBS) - Former Red Sox outfielder Manny Ramirez will reportedly seek reinstatement to play baseball once again, ESPN reported.

Manny had wanted to play winter ball in the Dominican Republic, but could not because he's on Major League Baseball's inactive list. He was placed on the list when he retired in April upon news that he would have to serve a 100-game suspension for a second career positive test for banned substances.

Ramirez told ESPNDeportes.com that upon reentry to baseball, he would serve the full 100-game suspension. He said he already told his agent Scott Boras about his decision to return.

He indicated that if no major league team wants to sign him, he would play in Japan or somewhere else.

Manny hit .312 with 555 home runs and 1,831 RBI over parts of 19 major league seasons with the Indians, Red Sox, Dodgers, White Sox and Rays.
