Report: Kevin Youkilis Agrees To 1-Year Deal With Yankees
BOSTON (CBS) -- Kevin Youkilis: Red Sox infielder for nearly a decade, two-time World Series champion ... and current New York Yankee.
The 33-year-old free agent agreed to a one-year deal with the Yankees on Tuesday, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal. The deal is pending a physical and is worth $12 million.
Youkilis entered the majors in 2004 with the Red Sox, eventually playing 953 games with Boston. He hit .287 with an .875 OPS in parts of nine seasons, belting 133 home runs and driving in 564 runs while flip-flopping from third base to first base and also spending some time in the outfield.
The Red Sox traded Youkilis to the Chicago White Sox in late June. With Chicago, Youkilis his .236 with a .771 OPS.
The Red Sox open the 2013 season at Yankee stadium, but the Bronx Bombers don't visit Fenway until July 19. The "Youk" chants that were common refrains around the ballpark may turn to boos upon the sight of Youkilis in a Yankee uniform.
