Report: Kennedy Considers Run For Congress

BOSTON (CBS) - Joseph P. Kennedy III is reportedly strongly considering a run for Congress in Massachusetts.

According to WRNI, Kennedy is "taking a serious look at running for the seat vacated by Rep. Barney Frank."

The report cites sources close to Kennedy and indicates that some sort of announcement could come within the week.

Sean Bielat and Alan Khazei are among others who have expressed interest in running for the vacant seat.

Kennedy is the son of former U.S. Rep. Joseph Kennedy II and the grandson of Robert F. Kennedy.

Kennedy, 31, currently works for the Middlesex County District Attorney's office as a prosecutor and previously worked as a prosecutor in the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office.

Kennedy graduated from Stanford University and Harvard Law School.

He has also served in the Peace Corp, co-founded Picture This: Justice and Power, a workshop for at-risk teens in Boston, and is on the board of the Robert F. Kennedy Children's Action Corps, a child welfare agency.
