Report: Keith Yandle 'Would Love To Play For Bruins'
BOSTON (CBS) -- If the NHL does indeed avoid a lockout for this upcoming season, might the Bruins' blue line be home to a new All-Star?
According to CSNNE's Danny Picard, a source close to Keith Yandle said that the 25-year-old defenseman "would love to play for the Bruins."
Yandle, a Boston native, lists Ray Bourque as his favorite player and the Red Sox as his favorite non-hockey team on his NHL.com bio and he played at Cushing Academy in Ashburnham in high school. He is the Coyotes' highest-paid player, as he is one year into a five-year, $26.25 million contract that carries a $5.25 million cap hit, so any potential trade would likely have to net the Coyotes some high-talent but low-cost players.
Yandle has played in all 82 games in each of the last three seasons, averaging 47.6 points per year and posting a plus-33 rating. He's also posted 3-16-19 numbers in 27 career playoff games.
Coyotes coach Dave Tippett told The Arizona Republic recently that the team's only expected big move before the season is to sign free agent Shane Doan.
"We hope to settle Doan," Tippett said. "That would be the one big one, obviously. Other than that, I don't foresee any other moves before camp."
