Report: Jake Peavy On Red Sox' Radar
BOSTON (CBS) -- With Clay Buchholz still weeks away from once again taking the ball for the Red Sox, the team narrowly hanging on to first place in the AL East is in need of a starting pitcher.
That pitcher could be Jake Peavy, according to CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman. The report said the Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals are "emerging as two of the potential players" for the 32-year-old righty, though "several other teams could be in the mix."
In 12 starts this season, Peavy is 7-4 with a 4.19 ERA for the Chicago White Sox, who are 14 games out of first place in the AL Central.

Juan Nieves, currently the Red Sox' pitching coach, worked with Peavy in Chicago for the four years prior to this season.
Peavy is signed through next season, due to make $14.5 million, so acquiring him would be more than just a rental for the 2013 season.
