Report: Former Patriot Hobbs To Retire
BOSTON (CBS) - Former Patriots' cornerback Ellis Hobbs will announce his retirement, FoxSports reports.
Hobbs, selected by the Patriots in the third round of the 2005 NFL draft, spent two seasons in Philadelphia after being traded by the Patriots in 2009. He suffered two serious neck injuries over the past two seasons, the second coming November 21 against the New York Giants. Hobbs was returning a kick and took a blow to the head from Giants' Dave Tollefson. He had to be carted off the field and was placed on injured reserve. Hobbs is now retiring at the age of 27.

In his four years in New England, Hobbs had nine interceptions. He began to return kicks in 2006 and scored four touchdowns on kick returns. In 2007 Hobbs set an NFL record for longest kickoff return with a 108-yard kick return for a touchdown against the New York Jets.
