Report: Farrell Likes Rick Peterson As Red Sox Pitching Coach
BOSTON (CBS) - It sounds like the Red Sox have their man to fill their opening at pitching coach.
ESPN's Gordon Edes is reporting new Boston manager John Farrell is "all in" on Rick Peterson as the team's new pitching coach, and an announcement could come as early as Tuesday.
The 58-year-old Peterson, who worked as the pitching coach for the Athletics, Mets and Brewers before serving as the Orioles pitching coordinator last season, interviewed with Boston on Saturday. A source told Edes the interview, which included general manager Ben Cherington, CEO Larry Lucchino and vice president/assistant GM Mike Hazen, went "very well."
This be a bit of a reunion for Farrell and Peterson, although the circumstances were a bit different when they first worked together in the past. Farrell had Peterson as a coach during his playing days when he was a pitcher in Indian's minor league system.

Peterson was one of four candidates to interview for the Red Sox open position. He would become Boston's fifth pitching coach in the last four seasons.
Last week, the Red Sox announced former Toronto coaches Torey Lovullo (bench coach) and Brian Butterfield (third base coach) had joined Farrell's staff in Boston.
