Report: Clippers Interested In Kevin Garnett
BOSTON (CBS) - Before the Boston Celtics held off the Los Angeles Clippers for a 106-104 win on Sunday afternoon, the two teams reportedly spoke about a potential trade that would send Kevin Garnett to LA.
According to the Sports News the Clippers want to add Garnett to their roster, and discussed a deal that would send guard Eric Bledsoe and forward Caron Butler to Boston.
Garnett has two years remaining on the contract extension he signed with the Celtics over the summer, and has a no-trade clause.
The Celtics have won four straight since losing point guard Rajon Rondo for the season with an ACL injury, while the Clippers are struggling -- losing six of their last eight.
Boston is in wait-and-see mode as the February 21st trade deadline approaches. While Danny Ainge has made it clear he does not want to see the Celtics suffer what happened back in the 90's when the original Big 3 broke down due to age, the trade that is reportedly on the table doesn't help Boston's current need for a big man. While Bledsoe is touted as one of the best backup point guards in the NBA, the Celtics already have a logjam at guard, even with Rondo out the rest of the season.
The 36-year-old Garnett is averaging 14.8 points and 7.3 rebounds over 30.1 minutes per game this season.
