Report: Celtics Willing To Offer Ray Allen 2 Years, $12 Million
BOSTON (CBS) - The Celtics are willing to offer Ray Allen $12 million over two years, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard.
"We want to get the band back together and add to it," Celtics coach Doc Rivers told Yahoo! Sports. "We have a great locker room with no issues. Guys want to be back and want to be a part of this."
Boston's potential offer would be twice is much as the Heat can afford to offer (roughly $3 million per year). Sources also told Broussard that the Grizzlies have offered Allen a two-year deal at the full mid-level exception ($5 million per year).
"We called him," Rivers told Yahoo! Sports. "He lives in Boston and loves it in Boston. Ray will look around, but we will be there at the end. I'm hopeful he will re-sign."
In addition to the Celtics, Heat and Grizzlies, the Mavericks, Clippers and Hawks are also said to be interested.
Allen can't sign with any team until July 11, but can make verbal commitments.
