Report: Celtics Sign Phil Pressey To Multi-Year Deal
BOSTON (CBS) - After an impressive showing in the Orlando Summer League, Phil Pressey has a job in the NBA.
According to the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn, the Celtics and Pressey have agreed to a multi-year contract, giving Boston a backup point guard to play behind Rajon Rondo.
Pressey, a former standout at Waltham High, went undrafted last month after a solid three-year career at Missouri. He was a Bob Cousy Award finalist as a sophomore, and averaged 11.9 points and 7.1 assists per game as a Junior last year when he was named to the All-SEC First Team.
After going undrafted, Pressey signed with the Celtics ahead of the Summer League. In Orlando he started three of Boston's five games, averaging 9.4 points and 6.6 assists. He recorded 10 assists in each of Boston's last two Summer League games.

Pressey, the son of former NBA star Paul Pressey, played one year at Waltham High while his father served as an assistant coach for the Celtics under Doc Rivers. He then transferred to Cushing Academy in Ashburnham where he played until his family moved to Dallas after Paul took a job with the New Orleans Hornets.
It's unclear how much of Pressey's deal is guaranteed, and the 5-11 guard will likely have to earn his spot on the roster during training camp and the preseason.
With Pressey on board and Brazilian center Vitor Faverani reportedly signed as well, the Celtics have 17 players on their roster.
