Report: Bucs To Cut Revis If Not Traded By Wednesday Afternoon
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking to trade Darrelle Revis by 4pm Wednesday, and if they can't swing a deal they'll cut the All Pro corner, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The move would have everything to do with a roster bonus due to Revis and compensation the Bucs would have to send to the New York Jets. If Revis is on Tampa's roster come 4:01 pm Wednesday afternoon, they would owe Revis a $1.5 million roster bonus and the fourth-round pick they sent to New York as part of last year's Revis trade would become a third-round pick.
By cutting Revis, Tampa would not only save the roster bonus and a third-round pick, but also free up $16 million in salary cap space.
The Patriots have been one of the teams rumored to be interested in Revis, whose large cap hit has been scaring off potential trade partners with Tampa. Schefter Tweeted out early Tuesday morning that should Revis get released, the Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles would be two teams to watch as potential landing spots for the 28-year-old.

In seven NFL seasons, six coming with the New York Jets, Revis has 21 interceptions in 95 games played.
