Report: Buccaneers Claim Albert Haynesworth
BOSTON (CBS) - Albert Haynesworth was not out of work for very long.
A day after being cut by the New England Patriots, the defensive lineman was claimed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Haynesworth was released by New England after registering just three tackles in six games.
"I thought that both he and myself, speaking for the staff, we really tried to make it work," Belichick said of Haynesworth on Wednesday.
Acquired from the Washington Redskins for a fifth round draft pick, Haynesworth was a low-risk gamble for the Patriots. The defensive lineman reworked his contract, making it easier for the Patriots to part ways with him.
The Bucs needed line help ever since defensive lineman Gerald McCoy tore his bicep, ending his season. Not sure if Haynesworth is the answer but maybe he can fit into their system and play better than he did here.
