Bruins, Marchand Agree To 2-Year Deal

BOSTON (CBS) – The Boston Bruins and forward Brad Marchand have finally agreed on a contract extension, the team announced on Wednesday.

The Bruins signed Marchand to a two-year, $5 million contract, making sure the Stanley Cup hero and fan favorite continues to do his damage in Boston.

The 23-year-old Marchand, who became a restricted free agent after the team won the Stanley Cup, set a Bruins rookie record with 11 playoff goals. He scored 21 goals in his first full NHL season, fourth on the team.

ESPN's Pierre LeBrun is reporting Marchand will make $2 million for the 2011-12 season and $3 million for 2012-13.

Marchand has been working out with the team over the last week as the Bruins get ready to open training camp on Friday.
