Report: Bruins Made 'Significant Offer' For Zach Parise
BOSTON (CBS) -- On Wednesday, Zach Parise and Ryan Suter made their decisions to join forces in Minnesota for the next 13 years. That didn't happen, though, without the Bruins' best efforts.
According to The Boston Globe's Fluto Shinzawa, "Parise received a significant offer from the Bruins." Shinzawa cited a source familiar with the negotiations.
Parise, who turns 28 later this month, signed a 13-year, $98 million contract with his hometown team in Minnesota, so it's unlikely the Bruins would have been able to offer something in that price range.
The Bruins have several forwards on their current roster due for free agency after the upcoming 2012-13 season, including Nathan Horton (unrestricted), Brad Marchand, Tyler Seguin and Milan Lucic (all restricted).
In 502 career games, Parise has scored 194 goals and registered 216 assists. This past postseason, he had eight goals and seven assists in 24 games as the Devils took the Kings to Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final.
