Report: Bruins 'Have The Best Odds' Of Acquiring Jarome Iginla
BOSTON (CBS) -- The price tag on Flames captain Jarome Iginla remains outrageously high, and if he is going to be traded before the April 3 deadline, Calgary GM Jay Feaster is going to have to lower his demands to something more reasonable.
But, if that is to happen, a report out of Calgary lists the Bruins as the front-runners to land Iginla.
"I think the Bruins are the front-runners right now," a source from another NHL team told Chris Stevenson of QMI. "With what the Penguins did the last couple of days [acquiring Brenden Morrow and Douglas Murray], they [the Bruins] are motivated."
The article quotes a source who said the Bruins would possibly be open to trading young goaltending prospect Malcolm Subban, but Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli said Wednesday morning on Toucher and Rich that he will not be moving Subban.
The story also suggested the Bruins needing to part ways with Nathan Horton and Rich Peverley, which would be the loss of two forwards with a combined 12 goals and 15 assists for a forward with nine goals and 13 assists.
"The [sellers'] market is small this year, so the prices are higher, as we saw per the Murray trade," the source told Stevenson.
It's almost certain that no team will line up to give Feaster the jackpot deal, knowing Iginla is a free-agent-to-be in a couple of months. But should those demands drop as the deadline draws nearer, the Bruins appear to be in good position to pounce.
