Report: Brandon Spikes Fined $25,000 For Hit On Ryan Fitzpatrick
BOSTON (CBS) -- Brandon Spikes' hit to the head of Ryan Fitzpatrick last Sunday drew an immediate flag, postgame complaints from the quarterback, and now a hefty fine.
The Patriots' linebacker was fined $25,000 for the hit, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss.
It's the second time this season that Spikes has been fined for a hit against Buffalo, as his high block on Scott Chandler in September drew a $21,000 fine.
Reiss also reported that Jerod Mayo was fined $10,000 for hitting running back C.J. Spiller late out of bounds, and rookie corner Alfonzo Dennard was fined $7,875 for a late hit on Fitzpatrick when he was out of bounds.
Fitzpatrick was clearly upset with Spikes after the hit, which brought a 15-yard penalty against New England, and the quarterback said as much after the Bills lost on Sunday.
"I think that Spikes is an emotional player. I think that he's a punk at times," Fitzpatrick said. "He was doing a lot of talking and hitting out there. He's not one of my favorite players, not high on my list."
