Rep. Joseph Kennedy III Traveling To Israel With U.S. Congressional Delegation
BOSTON (AP) — U.S. Rep. Joseph Kennedy III, D-Mass., is planning to join a congressional delegation heading to Israel for a fact-finding visit linked to ongoing peace talks in the region.
Kennedy will join 36 other members of Congress making the trip. The effort is led by U.S. Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland, the second-ranked Democrat in the House.
The delegation will spend a week traveling across Israel, Palestinian territories and other countries in the region. The trip is scheduled to begin Monday and extend to Aug. 11. This will be Kennedy's second visit to Israel.
Kennedy said he hopes the trip will give members of Congress a chance to witness the factors affecting stability in the region. The Massachusetts Democrat said he also hopes the trip underscores what he calls the "deep friendship between Israel and the United States."
Kennedy is a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Congressional Israel Allies Caucus.
