Reilly Smith On Bruins 3-Game Win Streak: Locker Room Vibe Improving
BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Bruins, 22-15-6, have climbed back into the NHL playoff picture after winning three games in a row, and are currently one point ahead of the Florida Panthers for the final playoff spot.
It's amazing what a little winning can do for the confidence of a hockey team.
Forward Reilly Smith joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich Tuesday morning to talk about the state of the team.
"Yeah, it's definitely a little more positive [in the locker room]. It's definitely tough when we were going through that stretch. We were playing pretty well, but losing a point in the shootout or overtime. It's nice to get that extra [point] and be on a bit of a roll right now," Smith told T&R.
The comments made by new CEO Charlie Jacobs last week have been pointed to as a spring board of sorts, and a reason why the B's have been playing better of late. (The team is 3-0 since Jacobs called the season unacceptable and a disappointment)
Smith admits he didn't hear the comments until days later, because as a player you try your best to block out that type of stuff.
"You try not to hear a lot of [outside rhetoric], because a lot of time it's negative and there's really no benefit of hearing it."
The B's look to make it four in a row when they host the Eastern Conference-leading Lightning tonight at TD Garden.
