Rehabbed Sea Turtles Head South Months After Cape Strandings
BOSTON (CBS) - After spending the winter rehabilitating from hypothermia, 46 endangered and threatened sea turtles that were rescued off of Cape Cod last fall are headed for warmer waters.
The turtles were being cared for at different rehabilitation centers around New England, including one at New England Aquarium.
It's not uncommon for sea turtles to strand as Cape Cod waters cool down every year.
But last year saw a record 242 stranding between November and December.
The rehabbed turtles will all be released Sunday morning at a beach in Florida.
