Red Wings Going With Gustavsson In Net For Game 5 vs. Bruins
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Detroit Red Wings will turn to Jonas Gustavsson in net once again Saturday afternoon as they try to hold off elimination at the hands of the Boston Bruins.
Detroit head coach Mike Babcock announced Friday that Gustovsson will start Game 5 ,with starting goaltender Jimmy Howard still battling the flu.
Gustovsson, who didn't learn that he would get the start until the pregame warmups, made his playoff debut against the Bruins on Thursday night. The four-year NHL veteran made 37 saves against Boston, but was tagged with the loss as the Bruins overcame an early 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 in overtime.
Gustovsson faced the Bruins twice during the regular season, both Detroit wins, stopping 44 of the 47 shots sent his way for a .936 save percentage. He went 16-5-4 in 27 appearances (26 starts) during the regular season.
