Wakefield Earns Spot In Red Sox History With 200th Win
BOSTON (CBS) - Just a quick congratulations to Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield.
With his win Tuesday night against the Blue Jays, the Red Sox knuckleballer becomes the 89th pitcher in MLB modern-day history to win his 200th game.
Think about all the pitchers that have come and gone through the game. To be in that group is pretty special. And, since it took so long to get that 200th win and the Sox had been struggling, I think it is getting downplayed around these parts.
To play on the major league level (and for that matter, to play even on the minor league, college, and HS level too) is an incredible accomplishment. To win 200 games? Ridiculous.

Wake is the fifth player to win his 200th with the Red Sox, joining Lefty Grove, Ferguson Jenkins, Luis Tiant and Curt Schilling. Not a bad list.
It's been a long journey for Wakefield since signing with Boston in 1995. In 17 seasons, he has gone from starter, to closer, to starter, to bullpen, to starter... you get the picture. Along the way, Wake has won 185 games in a Boston uniform.
Tim Wakefield On 200th Career Win
Now Wake isn't headed to Cooperstown, but with his 200 wins, two World Series rings, and Roberto Clemente award, he will be in the Red Sox HOF and can look back on a truly remarkable career.
He's also been as good a teammate as you'll ever find.
Congrats Wake on a very special milestone.
And, oh by the way, congrats on a huge, huge win on a night when Tampa Bay also lost, which is what I'm sure what Wake is most proud of.
