Red Sox Pull Off Three Trades On Wednesday
BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Red Sox made three trades on Wednesday, all involving minor leaguers, netting them little in return.
To begin the day, Boston traded right-handed pitcher Zach Stewart to the Pittsburgh Pirates for a player to be named later. The 26-year-old Stewart from the Chicago White Sox along with outfielder Brent Lillibridge for first/third baseman Kevin Youkilis and cash on June 24.

Stewart went 0-2 in a pair of starts for Boston, allowing 14 runs in 5.2 innings. He also made 11 regular-season starts for Triple-A Pawtucket, going 3-5 with a 3.94 ERAand 42 strikeouts over 59.1 innings pitched.
Following that move,the team announced they also traded right-handed pitcher Sandy Rosario to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Rosario was claimed by Boston off waivers from the Miami Marlins on October 17 and was designated for assignment on November 20.
Abraham On Toucher & Rich: Red Sox Need Pitching
In their final move of the day, Boston sent third baseman Danny Valencia to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for cash considerations. Acquired from the Minnesota Twins in August, Valencia played in 10 games for Boston over two stints in the Majors, and was designated for assignment on November 20.
In all, the Red Sox got one (or two) player(s) to be named and some cash for three players that had little future with the team.
