Theo-Cubs Talk Heating Up? Not Yet
BOSTON (CBS) – There has been some talk that Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein may skip town for the Chicago Cubs, but so far the team has not heard from either side.
WBZ-TV's Dan Roche has learned that, as of Saturday night, the Red Sox have not been asked by the Cubs or Epstein to have such talks, according to a MLB source.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post tweeted over the weekend the Red Sox may give Theo permission to talk with the Cubs. He tweeted I am shocked, but in last 36 hrs every exec talk to says believe #Redsox will give permssion and Theo will go to #Cubs to be GM.
On Friday, the Red Sox brass would not comment on the Cubs, or Epstein's, interest in each other during their press conference for the departure of manager Terry Francona.

"I think we feel collectively that he has been one of the best general managers in baseball and has been integral to the success of our club the last 10 years," said chairman Tom Werner.

"Theo is under contract with us, so it is an issue that has not been addressed or discussed," said President Larry Lucchino.
There rumors of Epstein's interest in the Cubs originally started during the middle of the regular season, after Chicago fired general manager Jim Hendry.
