Red Sox Take Motown For Four With Tigers
BOSTON (CBS) – The Red Sox have won 10 of their last 12 games and head into Detroit for four with the Tigers hot off one of their best offensive games of the season.
Boston pounded the Indians Wednesday afternoon 14-2 off 20 hits, as the Red Sox continue to crush the ball at the plate.
Adrian Gonzalez is hitting .500 over the last six games, David Ortiz has a seven-game hitting streak, and Carl Crawford is batting .308 in May after a .155 April.
What a difference a month can make.
Big Papi is hitting .406 during his streak, with three homers and five RBIs. He is now batting .302 for the season, thanks to five multi-hit games during the streak.
Gonzalez has been consistent all season and leads the majors with 43 RBIs.
The Red Sox made a roster move before Thursday's game, putting utility outfielder Darnell McDonald with an injured left quad. Josh Reddick was called up from Pawtucket and will get the start in Thursday's matinee.
The Red Sox swept a brief two game set against the Tigers last week at Fenway. Both games were decided by just one run.
