Red Sox Swinging Hot Bats In May, Pedroia Back In Lineup
BOSTON (CBS) - After a stagnant April, the Red Sox bats have exploded in May.
Boston leads the Majors in many different offensive categories for the month, including hits (221), extra-base hits (73) and Slugging (.455). The Red Sox are second in the majors with a .348 average and 108 runs scored, and their 26 home runs are good for third in baseball.
No one is hotter than Adrian Gonzalez, who leads baseball with 27 RBI and 34 hits this month. He is second in May with a .370 average and third with eight homers. Gonzalez is batting a scorching .545 in the last five games, which includes four two-hit games.

Designated Hitter David Ortiz leads everyone in the game with 15 extra-base hits, eight doubles and seven home runs. He is currently batting .302, the latest in a season Papi is hitting over .300 since 2007.
