Red Sox Spring Training: Ellsbury Sick, Doubront Shut Down
FORT MYERS, Fla (CBS) - Jacoby Ellsbury did not practice with the Red Sox Thursday as he battles the flu-bug that has been making the rounds in Fort Myers.
"We told him to stay home because it's I guess pretty contagious," manager Terry Francona said. "We don't need passing it around, so he stayed home. Hopefully he'll be here tomorrow."
Closer Jonathan Papelbon missed the team's workouts on Sunday because of the illness, but was able to return on Monday.
The news is not as good for pitcher Felix Doubront, who has been shut down for the next 10-days to two weeks with a tight left elbow.
"He's had this before and we'd rather not go three-four days and have him throw and nurse it through," Francona said of the young lefty. "He's too young and too good, we'd like to take a cautious approach."

Everything was okay structurally with the 23-year-old Doubront, who went 2-2 with a 4.32 ERA in 12 games for the Red Sox in 2010.
