Red Sox Score 10 Runs In 7th Inning Against Padres
BOSTON (AP) - The Boston Red Sox have scored 10 runs in the seventh inning to take a 13-3 lead over the San Diego Padres.
Adrian Gonzalez, traded by the Padres in the offseason, had a single, a double and three RBIs in the inning, while Josh Reddick singled in two runs and Kevin Youkilis doubled in two more on Monday night. The other runs scored when Marco Scutaro and Jason Varitek were hit by pitches and Dustin Pedroia walked, all with the bases loaded.
The 10 runs were the most for the Red Sox in one inning since May 7, 2009, when they scored 12 in the sixth inning of a 13-3 win over Cleveland. The team record is 17 runs in the seventh against Detroit on June 18, 1953.
The previous biggest inning for the Red Sox this season was seven runs in three games, the last on June 11 at Toronto.
