Castillo Batting 7th, Playing Center In Major League Debut
BOSTON (CBS) -- Rusney Castillo will bat seventh and play center field for the Boston Red Sox in his major league debut Wednesday night in Pittsburgh.
The Cuban defector joined the big league club after concluding his minor league stint Tuesday night, hitting a home run for the Pawtucket Red Sox in a losing effort in the Triple-A Championship game. Castillo, who signed a seven-year, $72.5 million contract with the Red Sox back in August, had 12 hits in 41 at-bats during his minor league stint, going 6-for-22 with the PawSox.
Castillo will wear No. 38 for Boston.

Castillo was one of six players recalled from Triple-A by Boston on Wednesday. They also called up outfielder Bryce Brentz, infielder/outfielder Garin Cecchini, left-handed pitcher Edwin Escobar, right-handed pitcher Heath Hembree , and catcher/first baseman Ryan Lavarnway. All six players will be active for Wednesday night's game.
