Red Sox RP Bobby Jenks "Embarrassed" About DUI Arrest
BOSTON (CBS) - Bobby Jenks is "embarrassed" about his recent arrest for DUI, the Red Sox pitcher said in a statement released through the team Sunday.
"I am embarrassed by the situation and apologize to my teammates and to the Red Sox organization for any distractions I may have caused. I still need to let the legal process run its course and until it does, I will not be able to make any further comment."
Jenks was arrested early Friday morning in Florida for DUI. He told police he took "too many muscle relaxers," according to the police report.
He was charged with driving under the influence, damaging property and leaving the scene of a crash. He is due back in court on April 9.
Jenks pitched in just 19 games for the Red Sox last year, posting a career worsts in ERA (6.32) and WHIP (2.234).
