Red Sox Rotation Shuffle: Lackey Gets Skipped
BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Red Sox are shuffling their rotation after Wednesday night's rain out against the Rays.
The team will skip John Lackey, who was scheduled to take the hill on Wednesday, with Clay Buchholz making his regulary scheduled start when the Red Sox open up a four-game series against the Blue Jays at Fenway on Friday.
Lackey will not pitch until Tuesday when the team takes on the Oakland Athletics out West. Lackey is 1-1 with an ERA of 15.58 in two starts this season. He allowed six runs in five innings against the Yankees in the Red Sox home opener, but the Red Sox scored nine runs to get him the win.
At 2-9, the Red Sox have the worst record in baseball and are just trying to get back on track.
"We've created a nine-game fiasco early in the season and now we've got to try and figure out a way to make it better," Red Sox manager Terry Francona said after Wednesday's series finale was rained out.
