Red Sox Place Jenks, Wheeler On DL, Call Up Hill and Atchison
BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Red Sox will placed relievers Bobby Jenks and Dan Wheeler on the disabled list and recalled Rich Hill and Scott Atchison from Pawtucket before Thursday's game with the Angels.
Jenks was placed on the DL, retroactive to May 2, with a right bicep strain. He experienced cramping in his arm while warming up in Wednesday night/Thursday morning's 5-3 loss to the Angels. The reliever had not pitched well in his first month with Boston, giving up 10 runs and 13 hits in 8.2 innings pitched.

Wheeler is heading to the disabled list for the first time in his 12-year career with a left calf strain.
The Rhode Island native has also struggled, surrendering two or more runs in four of his nine appearances this season. He allowed a two-run home run to Vernon Wells in the seventh inning of the 5-3 loss.
Both Hill and Atchison started off strong for Pawtucket. Hill went 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA over 16 innings while striking out 18. Atchison was also 1-0, allowing just two earned runs over 17.1 innings for an ERA of 1.04. The veteran reliever struck out 17 batters while walking just one.
