Red Sox Pitcher Brian Johnson Carjacked In Florida
BOSTON (CBS) -- Red Sox pitcher Brian Johnson had a pretty scary night on Thursday.
Johnson was carjacked around 2 a.m. at a convenience store in Cocoa Beach, Florida, according to FloridaToday.com. The 24-year-old Johnson, who pitched for Cocoa Beach High School, was not hurt in the incident.
Johnathan Oshaun Gould was arrested after a brief foot chase and charged with a litany of crimes, including carjacking, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. He reportedly approached Johnson, who was sitting in his car, and fired a round into the ground.
Johnson went 9-6 in 18 starts for the Pawtucket Red Sox last season, earning an International League All-Star nod. He made one start for Boston before hitting the disabled list with elbow tightness.
