Ortiz Still Sore, Might Get Injection For Achilles Strain
BOSTON (CBS) - Red Sox DH David Ortiz is still "very sore" from the Achilles strain in his right ankle, and may receive an injection on Monday.
"I'm thinking about it," Ortiz told ESPNBoston's Gordon Edes on Sunday about a possible injection. "Not cortisone or anything like that, I don't know. I have to talk to the doctor. I've got to get more information. I've got to talk to the doctor because I'm still very sore."

"Am I worried? Of course. I haven't played in the last three weeks and I still have pain," he said. "I'm not worried about getting worse, because I know I'm getting better, but the pain won't go away. I don't know if that's part of the healing process, I don't know. Some days I feel better, and I think the next day is going to be even better, but the next day I come back and continue to be sore. After I work out and do things, I get very sore, too."
Ortiz landed on the disabled list on July 16 and was eligible to be activated August 1. While he said he doesn't see the injury getting worse, Ortiz also doesn't see himself returning for the current home stand that wraps up Wednesday.

Ortiz was supposed to go through a full workout on Sunday but only received treatment. Ortiz also said he wasn't going to be able to work out Monday as well.
Ortiz is batting .316 with 23 homers — both tops on the team — and 58 RBI for Boston this season.
