Ortiz Out 'Hopefully No More Than A Week'
BOSTON (CBS) - David Ortiz is in a walking boot, but the Red Sox DH is hoping he will be back in the swing of things soon.
"Hopefully no more than a week," Ortiz said before Wednesday's matinée with the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway, via the Boston Herald. "We're just working on it. The doctor wants me to rest for three-four days."
Ortiz, who missed both games in the Red Sox doubleheader on Tuesday, is wearing a plastic boot to alleviate bursitis in his right heel.
The heel flared up on Sunday in Seattle when the team finished their series with the Mariners. Ortiz said he felt OK on the Sox' day off on Monday, but the foot began to bother him more before Tuesday's afternoon game against the Rays.
Tuesday night, Red Sox manager Terry Francona said Ortiz would be out indefinitely but would not need a trip to the disabled list.

Ortiz has been an offensive force for Boston this season, batting .300 with 24 home runs and 79 RBI.
He hopes to return to the Red Sox during the team's road trip next week. The Sox head to Kansas City for four games starting Thursday, followed by a four-game set in Texas.
