Red Sox Open Up West Coast Road Trip With A Win

Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed just 1 run and 2 hits over 6 and 2/3rds innings of work to pick up the victory, reliever Daniel Bard got out of jams in both the 7th and 8th innings and Jonathan Papelbon added a perfect 9th inning for the save.
Adrian Beltre homered and David Ortiz had a sacrifice Fly as well in a 2-run 4th inning to account for the Sox offense for the evening. Tim Wakefield will face the Athletics tonight.
