Red Sox Open Up Four-Game Series Against Angels
BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Red Sox open up a four-game series with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Thursday night. The Angels sit atop the AL West with a 12-6 record.
The Red Sox won all three game at Angels stadium in 2010, and took nine of 10 against the Angels in the season series.

Boston is lucky not having to face Jered Weaver (5-0, 1.23 ERA) in the series, but will still go against Dan Haren on Friday. At least they counter with Jon Lester in what should be the pitching matchup of the series.

Jed Lowrie should continue to see playing time as he kept his hot streak going Wednesday with a two-for-four showing in the Red Sox 5-3 win against the Athletics. Lowrie hit a two-run home run to up his total to three for the season, along with 11 RBIs in just 13 games.
With a 6-11 record a split will not look great for the Red Sox, but should be seen as a successful trip to Disney against the first-place Angels.
Here are the pitching matchups slated for the series:
Thursday 10:05 pm EST
Josh Beckett (2-1, 1.80 ERA) vs Tyler Chatwood (1-1, 3.75 ERA)
Friday 10:05 pm EST
Jon Lester (1-1, 3.20 ERA) vs Dan Haren (4-0, 1.16 ERA)
Saturday 9:05 pm EST
Daisuke Matsuzaka (1-2, 6.43 ERA) vs Ervin Santana (0-2, 5.26 ERA)
Sunday 3:35 pm EST
John Lackey (1-2, 9.82 ERA) vs Matt Palmer (1-0, 4.22 ERA)
