Offensive Notes From Red Sox' 17-5 Win Over Rangers
BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Red Sox scored a season-high 17 runs against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night en route to their fourth win in the last five games.
Here are some impressive notes from Boston's offensive onslaught:
- Boston scored a run in each of the first seven innings for the first time since July 3, 1998.
- The Red Sox' 17 runs scored were the most in a game since they put up 18 run against the Baltimore Orioles on September 1, 2011.
- Boston clubbed 19 hits, the most since their 20 hits against the Kansas City Royals last August. 13 of those 19 hits were for extra bases (eight doubles, a triple and four home runs) -- the most since 1990 and the most at Fenway since 1950.

- Four players had three or more hits for the first time since September 19, 2011.
- Shortstop Stephen Drew led the way for Boston with four hits, including a pair of doubles and a home run. It was his first game with three extra base hits since 2010 when he was with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
- Once again in the leadoff spot, Daniel Nava scored a career-high four runs. He's the first leadoff man to do that for the Sox since Pedro Ciraco scored four against the Los Angeles Angels last August.
- Jose Iglesias went 2-for-5 to extend his hitting streak to a career high nine games. He is batting .400 (12-for-30) with three doubles, a home run and five RBIs during the streak.
- David Ortiz went 2-for-6 with a double and triple -- his first triple since 2011. This marks just the third time in Ortiz' career that he doubled and tripled in the same game and the first time since 2009.
