Red Sox Make Bruins Game 7 Predictions... Kind Of

BOSTON (CBS) – The Boston Red Sox are playing some great baseball right now, but are still finding time to enjoy the Bruins Stanley Cup run.

"It's great. It's admirable for them to win that Game 6 and go on to Game 7," Kevin Youkilis told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Jonny Miller Tuesday afternoon. "Hopefully they can pull of the cup and bring it back to Boston and have a duck boat parade for themselves. It's been awhile, and they'd be the last team to bring something home. It'd be great."

"Why not?," David Ortiz asked about the Bruins winning Game 7 in Vancouver. "I think they're going to bring that cup back to Boston."

The Boston sports teams seem to always find time to encourage each other. Red Sox manager Terry Francona called Bruins coach Claude Julien to wish him luck, although he is not the biggest fan of hockey.

Of course, being busy and focused on baseball has kept the Sox from acquiring a deep knowledge in the sports of hockey. But that did not keep them from making predictions.

Kind of.

"I'm not really an expert in hockey," said Youkilis. "If the Bruins score more goals than the Canucks when the third period ends, they'll win the game. That is the key. Score more goals than the other team. That's all I got."

"Bruins 5- Canadiens 2" said Ortiz, meaning the Canucks. "No it's going to be a close one. Bruins 4-(Canucks) 1."

Ortiz is tearing the cover off the baseball right now, but he joked he would make a great enforcer on the ice.

"I'd be whooping (behind). I'd start a fight every two minutes, just like (Shawn) Thornton," Ortiz joked, quickly admitting he probably would not make a very good hockey player since he has never skated on ice.

"I don't think I can play hockey," he said laughing. "I can roller-blade."
