Red Sox Look To Continue Hot Streak Against Orioles

BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Red Sox close their road trip with a three-game series in Baltimore against the Orioles beginning Tuesday. If Boston takes two of three from the O's, they will be at .500 for the first time this season.

The Red Sox are 5-1 on the current road trip, after dropping their first six road games of the season. The Orioles are slumping after a hot start, losing 11 of their last 13 and three in a row.

Adrian Gonzalez is leading the Red Sox away from Fenway Park, batting .314 with nine of his 12 RBIs on the road. Carl Crawford is starting to hit the ball, batting .273 with four RBIs in the last week. Dustin Pedroia meanwhile is slumping, hitting just .190 with no extra base hits in the last week, but is happy his team is finally hitting its stride.

"We look good right now, we're playing good baseball. We just need to keep it going," Pedroia said after Boston swept the Angels on Sunday. "We're pitching better, hitting better, playing better defense."

Even though the Red Sox have won eight of their last nine, they do not want to get too confident just yet.

"We're not trying to get too high or too low," Pedroia told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Jonny Miller. "We're just trying to play, that's it. We weren't too low when we were 2-10, we're not going to be too high when we're 10-11."
