Red Sox Lackey Sells Back Bay Condo
BOSTON (CBS) - After a tumultuous first two seasons with the Boston Red Sox, John Lackey is hoping for a fresh start in 2013.
Part of that start will include a new place to live, as the Sox pitcher just sold his Back Bay condo for $2.1 million according to the Boston Business Journal.
While the news may fill some fans with hope Lackey may soon be shipped out of town, that isn't the case. The sale comes as part of the pitcher's divorce from his wife, Krista, last year.
Lackey listed the three-bedroom condo, which overlooks the Charles River, for $2.4 million last fall. He purchased the "mini-chateau" after signing a five-year, $82.5 million deal with the Red Sox back in 2009.
As it was for most of the Red Sox, 2012 was a tough season for Lackey. He did not pitch at all after undergoing Tommy John surgery, but is looking to bounce back after going 26-23 with a 5.26 ERA in his first two seasons in Boston.
The 34-year-old Lackey is expected to be ready next month when pitchers and catchers report for Spring Training down in Fort Myers.
