Red Sox Hopeful Hanley Ramirez Will Be Available Against Dodgers In L.A.
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Red Sox are "hopeful" that first baseman Hanley Ramirez will be able to return to the lineup for a weekend series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers.
Manager John Farrell was asked about Ramirez's status after the Red Sox' 3-2 extra-inning win over the Seattle Mariners and told reporters, "Optimistically, hopefully he'll be available for the weekend." According to Ian Browne of MLB.com, Ramirez spent Thursday's game with his injured wrist un-bandaged.
Ramirez hurt his wrist after Tuesday night's 5-4 loss in Seattle when he reportedly slipped and fell on the dugout steps on the way back to the Red Sox clubhouse, jamming his wrist as he attempted to break his fall.
David Ortiz was expected not to start any of the three games at Dodger Stadium due to the lack of a designated hitter, but Farrell added that the team's plans could change if Ramirez were unable to go against his former team.
