Luis Tiant On 'Golden Era' Ballot For Hall of Fame
BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Red Sox great Luis Tiant was shut out by the Hall of Fame in his 15 years of eligibility.
Now he will get another shot at being enshrined in Cooperstown.
Tiant is one of eight players and two executives named to the "Golden Era" ballot, the Hall of Fame announced Thursday.
Any candidate receiving 75 percent of the votes cast by the 16-member Golden Era committee will earn induction to the Hall. The vote will be held December 4-5 at the baseball winter meetings.

The 10 Golden Era finalists were selected by the BBWAA-appointed Historical Overview Committee from all eligible candidates among Managers, Umpires, Executives and Long-Retired Players whose most significant career impact was realized during the 1947-72 time period.
"El Tiante" was a 20-game winner three times for the Red Sox and went 122-81 in his time in Boston. In 19 big league seasons with the Indians, Twins, Red Sox, Yankees, Pirates and Angels, he amassed 229 wins and a 3.30 ERA while earning three All-Star Game selections.
Tiant won two American League ERA titles and led the league in shutouts three times.
