Red Sox Fans Get Excited For World Series
MEDFORD (CBS) - They waited for hours in line, clutching t-shirts, baseballs and ball caps. Hundreds of Red Sox fans turned out to meet catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia at Modell's in Medford.
So many excited fans showed up, some had to be sent away because of time.
Janet Black of Charlestown wore a hat signed by Sox players in 2004. She was hoping Salty's signature would add to her collection.
Salty arrived with his daughter and was greeted with chants of "Let's Go Red Sox."

He says he's savoring every moment of his first World Series and appreciating all the fan support. "I've said, ever since I've gotten to Boston, I've never seen fans like here. Just really passionate people."
The crowd included 100-year-old Geraldine Gello. She brought her birthday letter from the Sox. The games keep her up late, but she never misses one. "I love all those boys. They're wonderful," she said.
If Geraldine is one of the Sox oldest fans, some of the youngest came into the World at Mt. Auburn Hospital. Nine babies were born in 24 hours and all were swaddled in Red Sox blankets for the occasion.
New mom Beth Savage says her newborn Hannah will go to many Sox games in her life. Savage had tickets to a playoff game this year, but stayed home because she was pregnant. Now she and her baby will cheer on the team at home.

Rev. Dan Smith came to the baby photo shoot to visit his friends' infant. He had just come from picking up his Game 2 ticket. Placing the World Series ticket on baby Francesca's belly, he hoped the good luck would rub off.
"I think we can sort of take up all the good vibes here and bring them to Fenway, Thursday night."
