Ellsbury Out vs. Yankees With Tightness In Groin
BOSTON (CBS) - When the Red Sox open their three-game set Yankees in New York on Friday, they'll do so without Jacoby Ellsbury in the lineup.
The outfielder stole a team-record five bases in Boston's 9-2 win over the Phillies on Thursday night, but felt tightness in his groin on his record-breaking swipe in the eighth inning.
"The last steal my groin tightened up on me, so I just want to play it safe today," he told reporters in New York. "It's day-to-day; we'll see how it is tomorrow. I got in here early and got all the treatment. I just want to do the right thing so it doesn't get worse."
